Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has reopened the  Leh-Manali National Highway for vehicular traffic. The highway had been closed for almost five months due to heavy winter snowfall. This important route connects the Union Territory of Ladakh with the rest of India through Himachal Pradesh. It was initially closed in November when winter began and snow covered the road. A defense spokesperson in Leh announced that BRO successfully reopened the highway after a thorough snow clearing operation.

This task was carried out under the supervision of two projects: Project HIMANK in Ladakh and Project Deepak in Himachal Pradesh. Project HIMANK was managed by the 111 Road Construction Company and the 753 Border Roads Task Force, while Project Deepak was led by the 70 Road Construction Company and the 38 Border Roads Task Force.

The specialized teams faced difficult conditions and used skilled workers and advanced machinery to clear the snow. Project Deepak focused on the stretch from Manali to Sarchu, while Project HIMANK handled the route from Leh to Sarchu. The teams worked together to ensure the highway was cleared and reopened for traffic.
