Lucknow: The sit-in protest of the Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti turned into a strike on Thursday (December 2). In Meerut, all officers, and employees joined the strike. During this time, a large number of women employees also participated in the strike. The employees say they will continue their strike till their demands are completed. At the same time, electricity-related work is expected to be disrupted during the strike.

According to the report, the employees are demanding the restoration of old pension, promotion, cashless treatment facility, regularisation of contractual employees, providing subsidized electricity to electricity employees and pensioners as before, restructuring of Uttar Pradesh Electricity Council, etc. The employees have said that from today, the employees are on strike across the state including all 14 districts of Paschimanchal. They will continue their strike till their demands are met. A large number of women employees also joined the protest.  

Due to the strike, consumers kept wandering about complaints related to electricity bills, and meters, but no work could be done anywhere. 1,365 Samvida employees also joined the strike. During this time, 160 power stations in Meerut remained locked.
