New Delhi:. The administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) claimed on Friday that they are working with the police to investigate an alleged molestation incident on campus. It stated that all stakeholders have been advised to share information about the occurrence with the appropriate agencies.

Since the day of the incident, the students' union has bamed the administration for being "quiet" on the matter. On the night of January 17, a PhD student was involved in an incident on Aryabhatta Road near JNU nursery.

The student was jumped by a man, reportedly, when she was walking down the road inside the campus. When she raised an alarm, the man allegedly attempted to rape her, but he took her phone and fled the area before anyone could capture him. In this case, no arrests have been made by the police.

In a statement, JNU Registrar Professor Ravikesh described the occurrence as "reprehensible," adding that an inquiry is underway and that all stakeholders should be watchful.
