In the last few years it has been observed that there is considerable decrease in the number of students from India to go for UK and Us for higher education. The US and UK have been the most preferred destination of obtaining higher education for the Indian students.

According to India’s High Commissioner to the UK, YK Sinha this problem has occurred because of the political changes taking place in the countries. According to him the number of students going abroad have been decreased because of the increased problem in obtaining Visa. He termed it as main reason for the downfall.

The students fear that the political changes happening in both the countries will affect their education adversely. The data received Higher Education Statistics Agency UK reveals that there is huge decline in numbers of Indian students.

As compared with the numbers of enrollment in 2011-2012 the enrollment of Indian students in 2015-2016 is reduced to 13, 150 which is quite alarming.

The experts have observed that with coming of new government led by President Donald Trump might have adverse impact on Indian student. The Indian comprises of 25 per cent of international students growth in science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM).

According to a US-based research and consulting firm, DrEducation, the biggest challenge for British universities is that China and India are the top two countries providing international students.

Other than this the two factors also affecting the going of Indian students to US and UK are demonetisation policy in India and the stricter immigration policy.
