Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to provide free tablets to students of classes 10th and 12th and degree colleges studying in government schools. The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. In addition, the Cabinet has also decided to increase the honorarium of ASHA workers to a minimum of Rs. 6500 per month.

Briefing about the decisions after the same meeting, State Cabinet Minister and State Government spokesperson Subodh Uniyal said that the free tablet scheme will benefit 1,59,015 students studying in 10th and 12th standard stake in government schools and 1,15,000 students studying in degree colleges. He said a committee has been constituted for the procurement of tablets.

In another decision, the Cabinet in its second decision gave in-principle consent to reduce the fees of students who paid their services to the State after studying in Haldwani and Doon Government Medical Colleges and it was decided that a proposal would be moved in the next meeting of the Cabinet in this regard. Uttarakhand, known as Devbhoomi, is scheduled to go to assembly elections next year, in 2022. This year, people in Uttarakhand have seen CM changing again and again. This is not the first time that the CM has been changed in this hilly region.
