As per new study findings conducted in New York, covid-19 infections may put people at risk for developing neurological problems that are permanent.

Researchers from Houston Methodist University found that Covid-19 infection may raise the risk of strokes as well as permanent brain lesions, which may result in brain bleeding.

Covid-19 is known to invade and infect the brain, among other major organs The development of microbleed lesions in deeper brain regions connected to our cognitive and memory functions has been set up by several brain imaging investigations on Covid victims and survivors. Microbleeds are new neuropathological signs that are frequently found in persons with comorbid conditions like diabetes, chronic depressive disorders, and chronic stress.

Researchers have critically assessed the potential chronic neuropathological outcomes in ageing and comorbid populations if prompt treatment intervention is not applied in the review study, which was published in the journal Ageing Research Reviews.

The researchers highlight how Covid-induced micro-hemorrhagic lesions may aggravate DNA damage in afflicted brain cells, leading to neuronal senescence and activation of cell death pathways, which in turn disrupt brain microstructure-vasculature. These effects are based on their earlier studies. These pathogenic occurrences are expected to exacerbate advanced-stage dementia along with cognitive and motor deficits since they reflect the hallmarks of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

The study also discusses Covid's propensity for cardiovascular disorders brought on by internal bleeding and blood clotting-induced lesions in the area of the brain that controls our respiratory system after the Covid symptoms, as well as its propensity for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and related neurodegenerative diseases.
