A horrifying incident happened in the 18th Raid De Himalaya Rally. Rider from Kolkata named Subhamoy Paul who participated in the Moto-Quads Extreme Category. He was professionally trained from abroad had started off the third leg of the rally from Kaza to Sarchu via Koksar and Keylong on Tuesday morning. He crossed 14,000ft high Kunzum pass and was close to the Rohtang foothill when the accident happened on a narrow patch of the road.
The organizers considered to call off the event after the certain death. The event was 6 day long and was ended 3 days prior to the last date. He died on the spot after he lost control of his motorbike and hit a huge boulder near Chhatru on Kaza-Keylong road.
The incident has signaled that the rally may be called off as the Paul was mighty contender, but he ended up losing his life.
