New Delhi: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has been in the news for his statements. Now, once again, he has called former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi a 'Buddhu'. In response to a tweet, he described Rahul Gandhi as a 'Buddhu' and also lashed out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
It may be recalled that a notice was issued by the Home Ministry to Rahul Gandhi in 2019 regarding his citizenship. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy had twice raised questions about Rahul Gandhi's citizenship. He wrote the letter first in 2017 and then in 2019. Swamy had said congress MP Rahul Gandhi was a British citizen. A Twitter user tagged Subramanian Swamy and wrote that the Home Minister has not yet taken any action on the show cause notice sent on British citizenship in 2019. Replying to her tweet, the BJP MP wrote, 'The Home Minister is currently busy holding a secret meeting with Sharad Pawar. Is the Indian citizenship of 'Budhu' not over yet? This is not a priority for them. Now the government spoons will ask me why I have calmed down about 'Budhu'.
In 2019, the Home Ministry had sent a notice to the former Congress President saying that we have received an application from MP Subramanian Swamy that Rahul Gandhi is among the directors of Backops Limited, a company registered in the UK in 2003. According to the ministry, Swamy says that gandhi's date of birth is June 19, 1970 in the annual tax returns filed by the British company on October 10, 2005 and October 31, 2006. He has also been described as a British citizen.
