New Delhi: BJP's Rajya Sabha member Subrahmanyam Swamy has also demanded the release of Asaram Bapu, who is serving a sentence, amid efforts to release prisoners from several jails in the country due to Corona. Subrahmanyam Swamy has demanded his release citing the age and illness of Asaram, convicted in a rape case and serving a jail sentence from a minor.

Significantly, thousands of prisoners are being released due to Corona virus infection in the country. Earlier Asaram's supporters have also demanded his release on social media. Asaram is among 1,375 detainees imprisoned in Jodhpur's Central Jail. In the past, the news of Asaram's hunger strike demanding the release of himself on parole on the pretext of Corona also came in the media. It is said that Asaram is scared among the prisoners due to Corona.

Subramanian Swamy tweeted on Monday about Asaram's release that, "If convicted prisoners are being released, 85-year-old ailing Asaram Bapu, who has been wrongly convicted, should leave first." Let us tell you that these prisoners are being released from the jail on the orders of the Supreme Court.
