Bhubaneswar: The Chhattisgarh government has appointed senior IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to the Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo as the In-charge Chief Secretary of the state.

According to a notification issued by the State government, the 1992 batch IAS officer has been appointed the In-charge Chief Secretary after incumbent Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain went on leave due to illness.

The responsibility of the In-charge Chief Secretary will be effective only during the leave period of the Chief Secretary, the notification read.

Sahoo was named among top 50 bureaucrats in the country in a survey conducted by Fame India Asia Post in 2020. He was the only IAS officer from Chhattisgarh to be named in the list of top 50 bureaucrats.

Sahoo was earlier given additional charge as ACS of Housing and Environment and Water Resources departments. Moreover, he is the Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board. In addition, he retains his posts of ACS to the Chief Minister and other charges.
