Haryana is the most recent Indian state to declare a pro-electric vehicle policy. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday that the state government has agreed to provide a subsidy for electric car purchases.

The statement by Haryana's chief minister came on World Car Free Day, which was held on Wednesday. In an official statement, he stated that the state government will give subsidies to electric car purchasers in order to increase demand for electric vehicles.

He also promoted carpooling as an alternative to purchasing a personal automobile. To date, CNG buses have been supported in Gurgaon as a means of reducing pollution. The Haryana government is currently focusing on promoting the usage of electric buses and automobiles in the city. Several state governments in India have already declared their separate EV plans, including Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Some of these regulations are aimed at improving the electric car production environment, while others are concerned with the demand system.

Some state government EV policies provide rebates on the purchase of electric cars as demand incentives, encouraging customers to choose green vehicles over internal combustion engines. These state subsidies are generally added on top of the FAME-II benefits provided by the government. Haryana would be the most recent state to implement such a plan to encourage electric transportation.

Currently, almost half of Indian states have special EV policies in place to encourage the usage of electric vehicles. Financial subsidies on purchases, road tax exemptions, registration fee exemptions, low-interest rates on loans, and other benefits are available. For the EV ecosystem developers, the state governments offer tax exemption and other benefits to the EV manufacturers, EV charging infrastructure developers etc.
