Hyderabad: In Huzurabad by-election, TRS lost to former minister and BJP candidate Eatala Rajender. The TRS failed to win even in Shalapalli village, where the Dalit Bandhu scheme was launched. Voters in Himmat Nagar, the native village of party candidate Gelu Srinivas Yadav, and Singapore village, represented by TRS founder member and MP Capt Laxmikant Rao, also rejected the TRS. BJP got a total of 1,06,780 votes, while TRS got 87,712 votes.

Eatala Rajender, who was kicked out of TRS earlier this year, won the bypoll by a margin of 23,800 votes. Huzurabad has been a TRS stronghold since 2004 and Rajendra represented the constituency four times between 2009 and 2021. A record turnout of 86.36 per cent was recorded out of 2.36 lakh voters in the by-election. Congress candidate B Venkat lost his bail. He got only three thousand votes.

The by-election was a battle between KCR and Rajendra, who wanted to maintain his supremacy, who wanted to show his popularity and capture the constituency to save his political career. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said such an election was never witnessed in the last 40 years. He said the downfall of TRS has started.
