Sudanese demonstrators storm presidential palace, demanding civilian rule

Sudan: Thousands of Sudanese protesters broke through a security cordon to reach the presidential palace in Khartoum, demanding civilian rule on the third anniversary of the December revolution that toppled former President Omar al-regime. According to the report, the protesters rejected the political agreement signed on November 21 by Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Transitional Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok. Protesters from the states of Gezira and North Kordofan arrived in Khartoum on foot on Saturday evening and joined the demonstrations. The majority of the demonstrators were forced to flee after security forces used tear gas.

Meanwhile, the civilian coalition leading the protests, the Forces of Freedom and Change Alliance, has called for the protests to continue until "power is handed to the people." According to the Sudanese Doctors' Committee, one protester was killed and approximately 80 others were injured during the demonstrations.
