New Delhi: National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has announced a nationwide competition to name the bullet train of the country. According to NHSRCL, the name and mascot should represent the true nature of high-speed rail and all the socio-economic benefits that will come with the introduction of this technology in India.

NHSRCL took to Twitter and wrote, "RajdhaniExpress, TejasExpress are some of the most iconic names for the train in IndianRailways, we invite people to suggest a name for India's first BulletTrain. So register to submit your entries by logging on to http://www.gov.in  and grab your chance to win prizes." Participants have the chance to win cash prices prizes of up to Rs 1 lakh.

In another tweet, NHSRCL said, "Our BulletTrain will have its own mascot which will be selected from this contest. Participate & stand a chance to win cash reward if the name or design shared by you gets selected. Register to submit your entries, log on to http://www.mygov.in now!"

As per the announcement, there will be two separate entries for train name and mascot design. The selected entry will be awarded a cash prize and five consolation entries. For mascot design, the winning prize is Rs 1,00,000 and five consolation prize of Rs 10,000 each will be awarded as well. Interested people can submit their entries for the name as well as the design of the mascot till March 25, 2019.
