On Thursday, the Supreme court rejected to hear the appeal made by former television anchor Suhaib Ilyasi. As per the reports, the former television anchor is locked in connection with his wife's murder.

According to the reports from ANI, the top court had earlier condemned Suhaib Ilyasi to life imprisonment. After this judgment, the top court has directed Ilyasi to approach the Delhi High Court.

For the unknown, Ilyasi in the 90s has shot to fame with the television show 'India's Most Wanted'. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi session court in context to murdering his wife in the year 2000.

The court in order to the judgment also asked him to pay Rs. 10 lakh as a compensation money to the victim's family and Rs. 2 lakhs as a fine money.  Leading to this, the former anchor had moved to Supreme Court seeking a stay of his jail sentence in the murder case.

On December 16, Ilyasi was doomed by the court. An order was passed by additional sessions judge, SK Malhotra, who found Ilyasi guilty under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In 2000, Ilyasi's wife Anju was murdered in Delhi. After her murder, the police had arrested Ilyasi on the basis of an inquest reports given by the area magistrate. The anchor was also accused of dowry death and destroying evidence.

While Anju's family desired capital penalty to Ilyasi, the latter's lawyer asked for least punishment, stating that his client was distressed and shall not be responsible for the greatest punishment.
