Chandigarh: Polling is being held today for 59 seats in the third phase in UP as well as all assembly seats in Punjab. A total of 1,304 candidates are trying their luck in 117 assembly seats in the state. Shiromani Akali Dal chief and party's candidate from Jalalabad, Sukhbir Singh Badal, said, "I would just like to say that Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party is going to make a clean sweep. We will get more than 80 seats."

Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu cast their votes at the Swami Satyanand College polling booth. Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha alleged that reports were coming from booth number 23 of Guru's each Sahai assembly seat that Akali Dal workers had attempted booth capturing. They entered the polling booth and are asking the polling officers to allow their NRI family members to vote, otherwise, they will not allow anyone to vote. He also said EVM machines have been damaged at many places including Majithia, Phagwara and Tarn Taran.

Punjab Congress president Navjot Sidhu said that on the one hand there is mafia, the families of Captain Amarinder and Prakash Singh Badal who ran their business on the coast of Punjab by being bound by personal interests and licked Punjab like a termite. Those who want to change that system, on the other hand, are going to love Punjab.
