Raipur: The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh has issued strict orders to all police station charges to monitor the activities of Christian missionaries and converted tribals in tribal areas. According to the report, Christian missionaries are regularly offering conversions to tribal areas. Sukma SP has put all police station officials in the district on high alert to keep an eye on the activities of the missionaries.

In a circular issued by Sukma SP Sunil Sharma, he said, "Christian missionaries are working regularly in many areas of the district to prepare the tribals for conversion." This does not rule out a conflict between local tribals and converted Christians. It may be mentioned that the conflict between missionaries and tribals is a big issue in many tribal areas. At the same time, there are reports in the media about the lure of jobs, money, food and other kinds of greed in remote areas to lure tribals to Christianity.

According to media reports, the SP has ordered the district authorities to put the intelligence machinery on alert. The circular says, "Constantly monitor the activities of Christian missionaries and converted tribals living in the district and report it immediately if any of their actions seem suspicious.”
