India’s penalty corner woes continued to haunt them as the Sardar Singh-led side was held to a 1-1 draw by England in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup on Sunday. India were slower off the blocks, but scored against the run of play through Shivanand Lakra at the end of the opening quarter. However, the game saw India fail to convert a spate of penalty corners and it hurt them towards the end of the game as England equalised from a penalty stroke. Having lost their opening game against Argentina 3-2, India now have just one point from two games at the tournament. India take a 1-0 lead at the end of the half through Shilanand Lakra. India failed to score from yet another penalty corner in what could have been their big chance to double their lead. Hope this does not prove costly for the men in blue. England’s dominance on the ball hasn’t counted for much so far. And we have to settle for a draw. Shiland Larka scored in the dying minutes of the first quarter to give India the lead, which the men in blue maintained till five minutes left of the final quarter when  Mark Gleghone converted a penalty stroke successfully. India failed to convert a series of penalty corners that proved costly for them.
