New Delhi: Delhi court will now hear the Sunanda Pushkar death case on August 18. The Order to frame charges against senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor was adjourned till August 18 by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi. The court has allowed Delhi Police to submit additional documents related to the case. On August 18, Shashi Tharoor gets relief or charges against the court.
Shashi Tharoor's lawyer Vikas Pahwa had argued in court that his client had been completely acquitted in the SIT probe. There is no justification for framing charges against them. State that the court has earlier stayed the order to frame charges several times. The court had completed arguments on the case on April 12. Pahwa had requested Tharoor to be acquitted saying there was no evidence of allegations made against his client under Section 498A (cruelty to a woman by a husband or a relative) or 306 (inciting suicide).
Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar was reportedly found dead in a hotel on the night of January 17, 2014. The couple was staying at the hotel as the repair work of Tharoor's official bungalow was underway at that time. Delhi Police had registered a case against Tharoor under Sections 498A and 306 but did not arrest him. Tharoor was granted bail on July 5, 2018.
