Political and Social Life: Born in Tehri, Uttarakhand, Sunderlal entered politics at that time. He started his political career at the age of 13. In fact, he was also inspired by his friend Sridev Suman to join politics. Suman proved to be a staunch follower of Gandhiji's principles of non-violence. Sunderlal learned from him how to solve problems through the path of non-violence. He had also retired from political life after his marriage in 1956.

At the age of 18, he went to Lahore to study. He also started a movement for the right of Harijans to go to the temples. At the age of 23, he was married to Vimala Devi. After which he decided to stay in the village and started an ashram in the hills. After which he opened a front against liquor in the area around Tehri. In the 1960s he focused his attention on forest and tree protection. Last year, Sunderlal Bahuguna said goodbye to the world due to prolonged illness.
