Noted Indian industrialist Sunil Bharti Mittal was born today. He is an Indian industrialist, social worker and chairman of Airtel, India's largest telecom company. His name is counted among the few telecom entrepreneurs in the world. His company Bharti Airtel is one of the largest telephone companies in the world, with business spread over about 19 countries. Airtel GSM mobile service, as well as Internet broadband services and about 20 crore customers, take its services. Sunil has achieved this feat due to his hard work, true perseverance and vision.

Sunil was born in 1957 in the city of Ludhiana in Punjab. His father Satpal Mittal was a politician and was a parliamentarian twice from the Lok Sabha and once from the Rajya Sabha. His education was from the Vinberg Allen School of Mussoorie and later from the Scindia School in Gwalior. In the year 1976, he graduated from the University of Punjab. He says that he had no particular interest in his childhood and wanted to set up his own business.

Recalling his days, Sunil Bharti Mittal explains, "I first started the business of making threads for hosiery and parts of the cycle. The days were very difficult and the businessman was able to get a little bit of work, but every day when he went to sleep at night, he told himself to convince his mind that the money was going to come tomorrow. After giving this kind of confidence to my mind, I had a new self-confidence.
