Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 11 (NT): India claimed the Intercontinental Cup 2018 on Sunday after crushing Kenya 2-0 at Mumbai Football arena under the motivational and inspirational leadership of Sunil Chettri.

India kicked off itself on a winning note as seven minutes into the game it managed to score its first goal which was a flick from a free-kick.

However in the second half of the game belonged to Carrabin team Kenya, skipper Chettri steered the team to win as he has become the joint second highest goal scorer club among active players along with Argentinean star player Lionel Messi. Worth mention here the highest active goal scorer is Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 81 goals till now.

On a related note captain Chettri scored his 64th goal for the nation.

In a previous meeting of the same tournament, India in clean sweep had blanked Kenya by 3-0.

Chettri alone had scored eight goals in four matches including a hat-trick in opposition to Chinese Taipei.

Worth mentioning here Twin strikes from Sunil Chhetri and two appropriate blocks from Gurpreet Singh were the major breakthrough for India to beat Kenya 2-0 to lift the four-nation Intercontinental Cup here on Sunday night. (NT)
