Chandigarh: Senior Punjab Congress leader Sunil Jakhar has bid goodbye to the party. The rift between the Congress and Sunil Jakhar had been going on since the Punjab Assembly elections. On Saturday, the former Punjab Congress president announced his decision to quit the party by doing a Facebook live. He spoke good boy Congress and advised that nothing will happen by setting up a Chintan Shivir in this manner. Expressing his pain, he said the notice should have been issued to persons who have done harm to congress.

In the wake of Facebook Live, Sunil Jakhar said that the Congress' Chintan Shivir was just a formality. Congress needs a worry camp. In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party got 2,000 votes in 390 seats. In Goa-Uttarakhand, Congress could not win even after protests against the government. I believe that Congress needs to think about it. I am not only blaming the High Command for these lapses, there have been more shortcomings in it.

On the other hand, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has defended Sunil Jakhar. He said the Congress party should not spare Sunil Jakhar. It is an asset of the Congress party. Any differences can be resolved on the table. The AICC's disciplinary panel had on April 26 expelled Sunil Jakhar from the party for two years. He had criticised former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and termed him responsible for the party after the Congress' defeat to the AAP in Punjab.
