Chandigarh: Punjab has got its new Chief Minister. Today Charanjeet Singh Channi has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Punjab. In fact, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Charanjeet Singh Channi at a simple function held at Raj Bhavan. Let me tell all of you that Charanjeet Singh Channi is the first person from the Dalit community to become the Chief Minister of Punjab. However, the agitation is still going on in Punjab. The controversy seems to be growing rapidly even after the leadership change here. According to recent information, Ajay Veer Jakhar, nephew of former state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, has announced his resignation as the chairman of the Punjab State Farmers Commission (PSFC).

Sunil Jakhar was leading the race to become a CM, though he was not made CM. Ajay Veer Jakhar's resignation is now seen as Sunil Jakhar's anger. Let me tell you that Ajay is the grandson of former Lok Sabha Speaker Balram Jakhar and hails from Abohar in Punjab. Ajay was appointed as the head of the Kisan Commission by Captain Amarinder Singh soon after the Congress came to power in April 2017.

However, Balram Jakhar was an experienced Congress leader at that time who served as the Lok Sabha Speaker for two terms. Let me tell all of you that today, Congress leader Sunil Jakhar had questioned AICC General Secretary Harish Rawat's alleged statement that he would contest the upcoming state assembly elections under the leadership of Congress state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
