Lucknow: A petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court by the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Wakf Board in connection with the Gyanvapi Masjid and Kashi Visweswara temple dispute in Varanasi, an ancient city of Uttar Pradesh. The Sunni Central Wakf Board has filed a petition seeking a stay on the order of the Civil Judge Senior Division to conduct a survey of the temple.

At the same time, it has also been demanded that the revision application pending in the court of the district judge against the order be disposed of expeditiously. The hearing took place in a single bench of Judge Prakash Padia. The court has asked to appear before it on August 17 along with other petitions under consideration. During the hearing, the court questioned the petitioner's counsel when the civil judge's order was challenged in the district court. Why was a petition filed in the High Court on the same order and challenged?

The court has also questioned the use of two forums for the same petition. Meanwhile, the lawyer has sought more time from the court in the case. The court has posted the matter for further hearing on August 17.
