CHENNAI: Malayalam Super Star Mohanlal paid glowing homage to India's Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, who died in a chopper crash in Coonoor on Wednesday, saying that the country has lost "one of its most amazingly bright Army leaders." Taking to social media, the actor expressed his sincere gratitude by writing, "India has lost one of the most outstanding Army leaders the country has ever seen.

We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of CDS General Bipin Rawat and his family, as well as other military leaders." "His invaluable contributions and prudent actions have always been a boon to the country. I, along with my family, join the rest of the country in mourning the loss of this great Armyman, his wife, and other soldiers. Sincere sympathies to all of their loved ones."

Kamal Haasan, a well-known Tamil actor, was also shocked and saddened by the tragedy. Kamal Haasan, writing in Tamil, wrote, "I was stunned to learn of the crash in Coonoor involving a chopper carrying Army generals, including Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat. My heartfelt regrets and sympathy go out to the families and friends of all those who have died."
