The Supreme Court of India has at present refused to put a stop to the Central Government's ambitious scheme 'Central Vista Project'. The court has said that there is no emergency to hear it. Nobody is going to do anything during the coronavirus epidemic. The decision was taken after hearing a petition challenging the Center's decision to notify the change in land use regarding the redevelopment plan.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that if a new Parliament is being formed, then why the opposition? The petitioner said that the government is moving forward in this matter.

The Central Vista Project Scheme of the Center is worth 20 thousand crores. On March 20, 2020, the Center notified changes in land use related to approximately 86 acres of land in the center of Lutyens' Delhi marked by structures such as Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, North Block and South Block. A petition has been filed to quash this notification. The petitioner argues that this decision is a violation of the extended version of a citizen's right to live under Article 21.
