NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court decided on Tuesday to hear the Pegasus surveillance case on February 25 after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested a new date before Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, citing the fact that he is scheduled to argue a different part-heard matter on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court-appointed Pegasus panel has given an interim report to the apex court on the investigation's progress. On February 25, the case will be heard by a bench led by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and including Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli. Only two persons had submitted their cellphones for forensic analysis, according to the commission.

The top court said it was obligated to take up the case to discover the truth on October 27 last year, when it appointed an independent expert technical committee to investigate the Pegasus snooping accusations, which was supervised by a retired top court judge, Justice R.V. Raveendran.
