Lakhimpur Kheri Violence Updates: SC asks UP govt to provide every detail regarding the case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today heard the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The Supreme court has granted a day's grace to the Yogi Adityanath government in UP and asked it to file a detailed status report on Friday. The report provides complete information about the deceased, information about FIR, who was arrested, the commission of inquiry.

The court has also directed the state government to provide all possible assistance for the treatment of the mother of deceased farmer Lovepreet Singh. In fact, the mother was deeply shocked to hear of her son's death, since then she has been ill. Advocate Garima Prasad appearing for the UP government in the court said the government has registered an FIR. In addition, the investigation team led by a retired high court judge has been formed. Hearing the matter, Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramanna said that the high court should file a fresh and status report on the number of petitions filed in the case.

At the same time, the court has asked the state government to reveal how many FIR, how many were arrested. The officials also cleared a misunderstanding during the hearing. The court said two lawyers had written to the court for the Lakhimpur case. The court had on this asked for registration of the case under a PIL. But in misunderstanding, it was registered under suo motu cognizance.
