New Delhi: The Supreme Court has closed the investigation process initiated on the basis of self-cognizance to investigate the conspiracy to implicate former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi in an alleged sexual harassment case. However, the apex court said that the possibility of a conspiracy against former CJI Ranjan Gogoi cannot be ruled out. The apex court said that such a conspiracy could be linked to Justice Gogoi's decisions, including his views on the National Citizenship Register (NRC).

The verdict of the apex court is based on the report of former Justice AK Patnaik, who was tasked with investigating a major conspiracy in the charges against former CJI Gogoi. The apex court said that Justice Patnaik's report had accepted the conspiracy against the former Chief Justice and cannot be dismissed. The court also said that two years have passed since the case and the possibility of obtaining electronic records in the investigation into the conspiracy to implicate Gogoi is very low. Top court lawyer Utsav Bains claimed the conspiracy behind the sexual abuse allegations against former CJI Ranjan Gogoi.

In the year 2019, a woman accused former CJI Ranjan Gogoi of sexual harassment charges. The Supreme Court ordered an inquiry and also said that the allegations are very serious. We have to find out the reality. After this, Justice Patnaik was entrusted with this responsibility.
