New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard a petition seeking a ban on the sale of electoral bonds during the election. On a petition filed by the ADR, lawyer Prashant Bhushan told the court that an electoral bond has become a means of getting its work done by bribing the ruling party in the name of donations.

The Election Commission said in the apex court that it supports the electoral bond scheme. Hearing this, the apex court said that the donation of bribe is always not only to the ruling party but also to the party which is likely to come to power next time. Earlier, lawyer Prashant Bhushan said, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also lodged its objection to it. Because RBI says that the bond system is a kind of weapon or medium of economic manipulation.

He said that many people can deposit money in the country and abroad and buy electoral bonds. In fact, it makes a statement of the veracity of governments' alleged campaign against black money but also questions their credibility.  The apex court hearing in the electoral bond case is currently over. The court has reserved its verdict. The court also asked the parties to send a written plea to the court.
