Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's request for an extension of his bail plea in the Delhi Excise Policy case will not be urgently heard, the Supreme Court's vacation bench announced on Tuesday.

Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan, part of the vacation bench, questioned why Kejriwal's counsel, Abhishek Singhvi, did not bring up the plea last week when Justice Dipankar Datta, the judge of the main bench, was presiding.

"The Chief Justice of India, Chandrachud, will decide on the appropriate timing to list Kejriwal's plea for the extension of interim bail, as the verdict is already reserved in the main case," the Supreme Court stated.

Kejriwal has sought a seven-day extension of his interim bail to undergo multiple medical tests, including a PET-CT scan, due to significant and unexplained weight loss and high ketone levels. These symptoms could indicate kidney problems, serious cardiac ailments, or even cancer.

The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate as part of their investigation into the now-cancelled excise policy case. Despite this, he was granted bail until June 1 by the Supreme Court to campaign during the current Lok Sabha elections. Without an extension, Kejriwal will need to surrender to Tihar Jail on June 2.

"My weight has dropped significantly. If someone loses 7 kg in a month without reason, it's a serious issue. Doctors have prescribed several tests. I've asked for 7 days to complete all tests within a week. There could be a serious illness inside me. Doctors said that after all tests, we will know if there is a serious disease or not," Kejriwal explained at a press conference in Bathinda.

On May 10, Kejriwal was released from Delhi's Tihar Jail, where he had been held on corruption charges for 50 days.
