New Delhi: Illegal construction on Aravalli forest land in Khouri village under Faridabad in Haryana is being evicted. Illegal colonies, slum dwellers filed a petition in the Supreme court over the same. The Supreme court dismissed the petition saying there can be no compromise on forest land.
The Supreme Court told the Faridabad administration that it has directed the removal of 10,000 illegal houses, flats built in the Aravalli forest. A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari directed faridabad municipal corporation and Haryana police to ensure compliance of the expulsion order within 6 weeks. The Supreme court was hearing a petition seeking stay on the action being taken on slums and illegal houses located in Khouri village. The written petition has been filed under Article 32 against the Haryana Urban Development Authority Rehabilitation Policy.
The petition claimed that faridabad municipal corporation has reportedly demolished nearly 1700 slums without following the rules. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the demolition of illegal constructions as demanded by the petition. It has also asked the municipal corporation to work as per the February 2020 order and provide whatever it needs to vacate the land.
