Unnao case: Supreme Court gave CBI 2 weeks extra time to investigate car accident

NEW DELHI: The CBI, which is probing the car accident along with the rape victim and her lawyer, has got an additional two weeks to investigate by the Supreme Court. On Monday, the CBI had sought an additional four weeks' time to complete the probe during the Supreme Court hearing.

The CBI told the court that the statements of the rape victim and her lawyer are yet to be taken. The Supreme Court then gave the CBI an additional time of two weeks. The apex court has also directed the UP government to pay Rs 5 lakh as interim compensation to the injured lawyer of the victim for treatment.

On Monday, the Supreme Court asked the Unnao rape victim and her family to refrain from making any public statements. The apex court said they were helping the accused in a way by making public statements. The Supreme Court told the family of the victim that if you have an issue or have anything to say, please tell the court through your lawyer, we will consider it.
