New Delhi : In the case of delay in appointing Bombay High Court Judge AA Qureshi as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, on Monday, the apex court said that a decision has been taken by the collegium on the appointment of Justice Qureshi. The Supreme Court said that the verdict will soon be uploaded on the court website.

Earlier, during the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, told the court that the Parliament session is going on. The government will decide on the recommendation of the collegium by 14 August. It is noteworthy that the Gujarat High Court Advocate Association has opposed the government's move to stop the appointment file even after the recommendation of the collegium. The Supreme Court Collegium sent a recommendation to the Center on May 10 to appoint Judge Akil Qureshi as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, but the Central Government has not taken any decision on it so far.

Former Gujarat High Court judge AA Qureshi is the senior judge in the Mumbai High Court. The apex court had sent the collegium, but the Center had ignored the recommendation of the collegium. In this case, the lawyers of the Gujarat High Court had sought an appointment with the Law Minister, but the Law Minister refused to meet the lawyers. After which the Advocate Association has filed a petition in the top court.
