Hearing on loan moratorium in 'Supreme Court' continues, Center asks for deferment

New Delhi: The final hearing was being held in the country's largest court on the loan moratorium today, but now it has been postponed till October 5. The central government has sought deferment from the court during the hearing. The Center told the Supreme Court on Monday that banks are expected to take a decision in 2-3 days on charging interest during the period of postponement of the loan in view of the global epidemic coronavirus.

The Supreme Court during the hearing of the petition challenging the interest charged on the postponed installments asked the Center to bring the verdict on record and give affidavits to the parties concerned. The Center told the Supreme Court that the matter has been considered very seriously and the decision-making process is quite advanced. A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan said that it would hear the petition filed by various industries, trade associations and individuals on October 5.

The bench said that "We will hear the case on Monday (October 5)". Whatever your policy is, tell it what you want. We will hear the matter on Monday. We do not want any further adjournment. The bench also comprises Justices R Subhash Reddy and Justice MR Shah.
