New Delhi: Apex Court Justice R. Bhanumathi has distanced himself from hearing a transfer petition filed against former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chinmayananda. He has not disclosed the reasons behind this. In the petition, there has been a demand to shift the case from Lucknow to Delhi.

The petitioner said that Chinmayanand is a very influential person. He has also served as a minister. So the case should be transferred. On 3 February, the Allahabad High Court granted him bail on the basis of ill-health of Chinmayanand. The decision of the Allahabad High Court was challenged by the victim in the apex court.

The court had agreed to hear the plea of the victim. It is now reported that Justice R Bhanumati has distanced himself from hearing the case. On 3 February, the Allahabad High Court granted bail to former Union Minister Swami Chinmayananda in a rape case. Justice Rahul Chaturvedi, while ruling on bail, ordered the release of Chinmayananda.
