New Delhi: The issue of Pegasus spyware in India can once again heat up. Actually, there are reports that the case can be heard soon in the Supreme Court. Let me tell you that, in this case, the central government was accused that many influential people were spied on through this spyware made by the Israeli company. A committee was also constituted by the Supreme Court to probe the matter. At the same time, there has been a fierce ruckus on this issue from the opposition parties in the House.

According to media reports, the Supreme Court can hear the report submitted by the expert committee soon. The report was prepared under the supervision of retired Justice RV Raveendran. Apart from this, three more judges were included in the bench formed under the leadership of Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramana on 21 October 2021. There were allegations that several politicians, social activists, and journalists were spied on through Pegasus.

In July, the Global Media Consortium revealed that thousands of people have potentially been spied on in India and other countries. This spyware was made by the Israeli company NSO Group. The company said that it sells this spyware only to government agencies. There is a demand from the government to clarify this matter. However, so far the committee constituted by the Supreme Court, in this case, has not made its final report public. It is being told that the panel has not found evidence of espionage in the phones examined.
