New Delhi: The apex court rejected the Centre's demand to postpone the first examination on the issue of women appearing for the entrance exam of the National Defence Academy (NDA). At the same time, the apex court said that women will be allowed to appear for the upcoming exam on November 14.

During the hearing of the case on Wednesday, the court said that the armed forces are the best response team to deal with emergencies and it is expected that necessary arrangements will be made to pave the way for the inclusion of women in NDA without any delay. In the case of women being admitted to NDA, the Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the Centre's demand to postpone the first examination for women candidates and directed the central government to allow them to appear for the upcoming examination on November 14. the entrance exam for NDA 2020 is scheduled to be held on November 14.

During the hearing, the apex court said that the centre's affidavit appears to be that you want to postpone admission for a year. On this, the central government said that it is not so. It will take us some time to make arrangements. We need time for it. In response, the Supreme Court said that we can give you six months to make arrangements. The apex court's directive has made it clear that from this year, women will get an opportunity to appear for the NDA exam.
