New Delhi: In view of the outbreak of the global epidemic coronavirus, the Supreme Court has ordered that hearings will be conducted in courts across the country with the help of video conferencing. The Supreme Court in its order said - how the process of work will continue through video conferencing in the lower courts, the High Court should make rules for this. Lower courts will work accordingly.

The apex court further said in its order that the National Informatics Center (NIC) should ensure hearing facilities through video conferencing in courts across the country.

As per the SC order, the NIC will arrange for a permanent broadband connection, good mikes, speakers and timed mikes. For this, NIC will prepare a detailed SOP and send it to the nodal officer and the concerned court. However, video conferencing will not record the evidence and statements of witnesses. Will be called to court to record evidence and testimony. Those who do not have health problems related to the trial will be allowed to come to court. If the judge felt that more people had come, the hearing would be deferred.
