New Delhi: The Supreme Court has banned the cutting of trees in Aarey Colony, Mumbai. During the holiday of Dussehra in the apex court, a special bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Ashok Bhushan has heard this issue. In fact, the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the case amid opposition to the cutting of trees in Aarey Colony, Mumbai. On Sunday, the Shrish court asked the law students to hear the letter written in protest against the cutting of trees, as a public interest litigation.

The court had also constituted a special bench for hearing today. It is noteworthy that the process of cutting trees for the construction of Metro carshed in 'Aare Colony' is fiercely opposed. There was an uproar in the Aare forest on Friday night, when the work of cutting trees started on the Mumbai metro site, then people opposing the cutting of trees reached there.

Protesters started shouting slogans against cutting trees. They also tried to enter the border where trees were being cut. The police lathi-charged the protesters and also took many protesters into custody. Let me tell you that the action of cutting the trees was started following the order of the Bombay High Court on Friday.
