New Delhi: The battle between Delhi and Haryana governments over water is not of today. The case has also reached the country's largest court several times. The apex court has dismissed the contempt petition filed by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The Board had filed the petition seeking not to provide adequate water to keep the Wajirabad reservoir complete.

The Supreme Court rejected the contempt and said the reasons would be given later. DJB had alleged that as per the Supreme Court judgment of February 1996, Haryana needed to ensure that 450 cusecs of water were being maintained in the Wajirabad reservoir and any shortage would create a drinking water crisis in the capital. However, the Supreme Court has dismissed DJB's plea.
