The Supreme Court of India has said that the 1984 riot convict Sajjan Kumar will be presented to the Medical Board in AIIMS. Former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar had sought bail from the court on the basis of ill health. After which the court has asked him to appear in the Medical Board at AIIMS at 10 am on Thursday. The court said that the doctors will investigate and decide whether they need to be admitted to the hospital or not.

According to media reports, the Supreme Court has refused to give relief to Sajjan Kumar. The court refused to hear the SIT's plea against granting anticipatory bail in 2018 to Sajjan Kumar in cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. During the hearing of the case on Monday, a bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Suryakant said, "SIT's application for an early hearing is dismissed."

The court had earlier refused to grant interim bail to former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, convicted for life imprisonment, on February 14 and said that he would hear his bail plea during summer break. Sajjan Kumar, who had requested interim bail on medical grounds, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Delhi High Court on 17 December 2018.
