CAA Protest: Supreme Court strict on Shaheen Bagh, says, "What will happen if all come on streets?"

New Delhi: A hearing was held in the apex court on Monday against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh for the past 2 months. Hearing of this case is benching Justice Sanjay Kaushal, Justice K.M. Joseph. The court has said that democracies cannot do road jams in the name of protest for everyone. The matter will now be heard next Monday.

The court has appointed a negotiator to talk to Shaheen Bagh protesters. Advocate Sadhana Ramachandran has been appointed as the interlocutor along with senior advocate Sanjay Hegde. Wajhat Habibullah, Chandrashekhar Azad will assist the interlocutors during this period. It was said from the apex court that our concern is limited, what will happen if everyone comes on the road? The court has now asked the Commissioner of Delhi Police to file an affidavit in the matter.

The Supreme Court has asked advocate Sanjay Hegde to speak to the Shaheen Bagh protesters. During this, Sanjay Hegde appealed that retired judge Kurian Joseph could be sent with him. On behalf of Sanjay Hegde, the Solicitor General also requested for police protection.
