Supreme Court rebukes Yogi government over arrest of journalist, orders to release

Lucknow: The Supreme Court has slammed up government over the arrest of journalist Prashant Kanojia, who wrote social media posts against Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. At the same time, the arrested journalist has issued instructions to the release the Prashant immediately. The Supreme Court hearing was held in the case on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the apex court has told the up government that you cannot violate the rights of any citizen. It is essential to preserve citizens ' rights. During the hearing, the court has said that views on disputed posts may vary, but why arrest?  The Apex Court has asked Prashant Kanojia's wife to take the case to the High Court. It may be noted that Prashant Kanojia was remanded to judicial custody.

The apex court also questioned the filing of FIR in the case under section 505 IPC. The court has questioned the up government under which sections these arrests have been made. It was not fair to share it but then why the arrest has taken place. During the hearing, Justice Banerjee commented that we are not praising the work of the journalist, nor denying the allegations against him. But it is not right to keep the person in jail.
