NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Friday approved a hearing on a plea filed aginst Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa and Congress leader DK Shivkumar seeking reopening of the corruption case nine years ago. A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said that it will decide on the Lockus Standi (right to go to court) of the NGO society change community.

The NGO is interfering in the matter and wants the case to be reopened a few years ago. Representing the NGO, lawyer Prashant Bhushan told the court earlier in the day that Yeddyurappa had become the CM of Karnataka. Yeddyurappa sworn in as CM in the evening. The bench said that she was not affected by any name or person and would hear the matter after two weeks.

Appearing on behalf of Yeddyurappa, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi said that the NGO is trying to unduly open the corruption case. The case was quashed by the Karnataka High Court in December 2015. The case relates to cancellation of notification of 4.20 acres of land under the Karnataka (Retribution of Transfer) of Land Act.
