New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the Central government's plea against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's 'Mukhyamantri Ghar Ghar Ration Scheme' on November 15. The Central government has challenged the Delhi High Court's decision saying it is an attempt to run a parallel PDS in violation of the National Food Security Act, which is adversely affecting the beneficiaries.
The Centre has challenged the Delhi High Court's order allowing the implementation of the 'Mukhyamantri Ghar Ghar Ration Scheme'. The Centre has said that the HC has allowed the implementation of the scheme without hearing the Centre's stand on the harmful impact of the Delhi government's scheme. The scheme is against the provisions of the National Food Security Act on ration distribution to the needy. The Central government in its petition said that it would have the most adverse impact on the implementation of the "One Nation One Ration Card" scheme, which was launched by the Centre to benefit migrant workers. Under this scheme, people can get ration from biometrics from ration shops anywhere in the country.
The Centre has also accused the AAP government of installing ePOS machines at ration shops and failing to implement the 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme. The Central government says the Delhi government is now trying to launch a new scheme in violation of NFSA to hide its failures in these cases.
