New Delhi: The Supreme Court will is scheduled to hear Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute case today. The five-judge bench will decide the timeline and nature of hearing today which is expected to start at 10:30 am.

A five-judge Constitution Bench which was set up by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on January 8 to hear the matter. Headed by the CJI, the bench also includes Justices SA Bobde, NV Ramana, UU Lalit and D Y Chandrachud.

The matter came to the Appex Court in last year but the court declined urgent hearing saying it has other priorities. Later, the court decided to fix the hearing for the January’s first week.

Various Hindutva organisations have been demanding an ordinance on early construction of Ram temple at the disputed site. Visva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have been demanding an ordinance to pave the way for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Many BJP leaders including Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath have also called for an ordinance or law for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Shiv Sena has also upped the ante on Ram Mandir.
