New Delhi: The case has not subsided in the recovery of 100 crores in Maharashtra following a letter from former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is constantly cleaning up the matter, but his difficulties are not decreasing. Param Bir Singh's plea seeking a fair and independent CBI inquiry against Anil Deshmukh is going to be heard in the Supreme Court today. The hearing in the case is going to be a bench of Justice SK Kaul and Justice R.S. Reddy.
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, in his plea, has termed his transfer as "arbitrary" and "unlawful" and urged the Apex Court to immediately repeal the government's order. While Param Bir Singh has filed a petition seeking a stay on his transfer order as an interim relief, the state Government, center and CBI have been requested to examine the CCTV footage of Deshmukh's residence and take him into the investigation promptly.
Amidst this political turmoil, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh met CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday. The report of police officer Rashmi Shukla was also discussed in the meeting of the two leaders. In a press dialogue on Tuesday, former CM Devendra Fadnavis referred to the letter which was written on behalf of the State Intelligence Department officer Rashmi Shukla. In the same letter, Rashmi claimed to have been involved in the transfer-posting racket of some of the major police officers and other officers and also said that there were some phone recordings as proof.
