Ayodhya case: Arbitration committee to submit report to Supreme Court, next hearing on July 25

NEW DELHI: The apex court on Thursday heard a plea seeking an early hearing in the Ayodhya case. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has asked the Mediation Committee appointed by it to submit its report by July 18. A five-judge Constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said during the hearing that if there is no solution from the arbitration, we will think of a day-to-day hearing of the case. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for July 25.

Hindu advocate Gopal Singh Visharad has sought a speedy trial of the main case, saying there is no concrete progress in the arbitration. He also sought withdrawal of the arbitration order from the court in the petition. In the last hearing, the Committee had sought additional time for the arbitration process. The court had given the committee time till August 15.

During the hearing, advocate Rajiv Dhawan sought dismissal of the petition questioning the arbitration process. But Nirmohi Akhara supported Gopal Singh's petition. The Nirmohi Akhara has said that the arbitration process is not moving in the right direction. Earlier Akhara was in support of the arbitration process. Rajiv Dhawan protested on behalf of Muslim parties. He said it is not the time to criticize the arbitration process.
